BIOGRAPHIES OF
PROSPECTIVE BOARD MEMBERS
The following people have submitted biographies
for your consideration. If you are running and would like
to submit a bio, as well, please e-mail it to
john@ausableacres.com.
John Sanpietro - In 2004,
my wife, Liz, and I left New York City and moved to the
Acres full-time. Since I work from home, as well,
I'm 'really' full-time!
Professionally, I am a Business Coach/Consultant for
businesses around the country, as well as Canada and
Australia I love that I'm able to look out my
office door and see nothing but woods. More than a
few times, I've watched deer, fox, turkeys and even a
few bears walk by.
It's that natural environment that
I want to preserve as a Board member. Not just for
us, but for our new baby boy. He was born in May
and I want him to be able to experience the freedom of
play and creativity living in the Acres provides.
I believe I'll bring a very high
level of energy and conviction to the Board. I'm a
big fan of the Acres, and I'm not one to sit back and
let other people do it. I like to get involved.
I volunteered to set up and maintain this website
because I thought it was important to keep you all
involved, as well.
Thank you in advance for your
consideration.

Rosemary Barry - My husband and I have
owned a home in the Acres since 2000. I am a
retired teacher with many years experience working on
boards both in my private and professional life.
Although we do not live full time in the Acres, we spend
about half the year up here.
I became a Board member in 2006 and I am
interested in continuing to serve because I can
appreciate the concerns of the part-time, as well as the
full-time residents. I was opposed to the lease
agreement that Eric Johansen proposed from the beginning
because, like most of you, I felt we should not have to
pay rent for property that we believe to be ours already
and which we have sued since Ausable Acres became a
community. I am interested in keeping the
environment and quality of the Acres as beautiful as it
has been and monitoring closely all future development
to that end. |
Kathy Lirio - In 1979, my husband and I
purchased our land in the Acres. In 1984, we built
our much loved vacation home.
After working for 35 years as a
Nurse/Business Manager, I am now retired. During
the past 38 years, I've been involved in many volunteer
organizations, serving on committees and boards. I
was President of the Schenectady County Medical
Alliance, 4th District Counselor, Director and Vice
President of the New York State Medical Alliance and
recently service on the Board of the AAPOA Land Trust
Committee.
Even though my primary residence is in
Niskayuna, NY (Schenectady County), my husband, who is
newly retired from his surgical practice, and I are
finally able to spend a great portion of the year in the
Acres.
I have truly enjoyed working on and
attending all of the varied AAPOA events over the past
23 years. |
John D'Angelo - I am a practicing attorney in New
Jersey and a municipal court judge. I am an avid
fly fisherman. We came to the Acres in the early
70's, built here and have been active since. I was
a member of the Board years ago when we negotiated the
takeover of our roads with the Town of Jay. My
present interest in preservation of the original plan of
the Acres, its beauty and quality of life. |
Alice Looney
- My husband, Bob, and I have lived in the Acres for 5+
years and are full-time residents. I'm a retired
reading teacher and work part-time at Whiteface. My
reason for running for the board is to preserve the
Adirondack setting we so love in the Acres. |
Joe DeMarco
- After vacationing in The Acres for many years, my wife
and I moved her 32 years ago. I was a former
officer of the Association, serving as a Board member
and as Vice President. I would like to contribute
my ideas to the Association as it moves into the next
year of re-organization. I live on AuSable Drive,
in the SnowFlake Chalet. |
